La maggior parte delle acque reflue viene scaricata direttamente nell’ambiente senza un adeguato trattamento, con effetti negativi sulla salute umana, sulla produttività economica, sulla qualità delle risorse ambientali di acqua dolce e sugli ecosistemi. L’obiettivo principale dello studio è stato quello di valutare l’impatto delle acque reflue industriali sulla qualità dell’acqua nelle regioni Centre, Plateau Central, Centre-Ouest e Hauts-Bassins. Sono stati selezionati tre tipi di acque: acque superficiali e di pozzo situate in prossimità di zone industriali e acque reflue (provenienti da impianti di trattamento e unità industriali). I risultati delle analisi di queste acque hanno mostrato che le acque riceventi (fiumi e pozzi) sono contaminate in misura variabile dai vari scarichi di acque reflue delle unità industriali. Questo studio è il frutto di un lungo lavoro della Direzione generale delle risorse idriche.
