A TRILOGY OF STORIES BOOK ONEThey pushed deeper into the forest. filling their buckets in a very large patch of raspberries. Suddenly they heard a loud crashing sound. From out of the trees at the far end of the berry patch came a very large mother bear and her two cubs. The children stopped and huddled together as the mother bear charged towards them. The huge Black Bear stopped in front of them and stood up on her hind legs and began growling and grunting. BOOK TWOAfter the log boom had passed, Martha said to Gretchen, 'Boy, what a scruffy looking crew that was. That guy in front was nownright scary. I sure wouldn't want to meet up with him at night. You don't suppose they were those River Pirates that we've heard about.' BOOK THREEAs they were leaving, Star gave them a warning, 'Don't stay too late. There's a very large pack of Timber Wolves that has moved into the river valley this winter. Last week, I found one of my young heifers eaten right to the bones; right behind the barn. They are probably about ready for another feeding.'
