A elevada prevalência de doenças crónicas e a facilidade de acesso a medicamentos de venda livre favoreceram o consumo de medicamentos prescritos e de automedicação entre os mais necessitados. É igualmente importante assegurar que não só os doentes, mas também todos os indivíduos estejam conscientes dos requisitos de armazenamento adequados para evitar consequências negativas para a saúde e para a economia. Foi considerado um estudo transversal para avaliar a automedicação e as práticas de armazenamento de medicamentos entre os estudantes de farmácia de Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan. Para recolher os dados, utilizou-se um questionário semi-estruturado e validado com 21 perguntas abertas e fechadas que abordavam vários domínios - conhecimentos, atitudes e práticas - após a obtenção do consentimento informado. Participaram no estudo um total de 300 indivíduos que satisfaziam os critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Foram consideradas as diretrizes STROBE para o estudo transversal. O estudo concluiu que os estudantes de farmácia têm bons conhecimentos sobre automedicação e sobre os requisitos/práticas de armazenamento a ter em conta para os medicamentos.
