A vandalização de oleodutos e os consequentes derrames de petróleo, explosões e incêndios são ocorrências comuns na Nigéria. Os efeitos destas ocorrências destrutivas induzidas pelo homem na vegetação da área de Ilado, no município de Amuwo-Odofin, no estado de Lagos, foram monitorizados, avaliados e analisados utilizando tecnologia de sensoriamento remoto. As alterações espaciais resultantes do derrame de petróleo também foram comparadas dentro de um período específico.
