L’importanza dei funghi ectomicorrizici selvatici commestibili è indispensabile per la conservazione degli ecosistemi forestali, grazie alla simbiosi mutualistica e non patogena che instaurano con le specie legnose di cui sono vitali per la nutrizione. Oltre a svolgere questa simbiosi, partecipano indirettamente a influenzare l’equilibrio climatico, partecipano alla conservazione e alla formazione dei suoli e preservano gli habitat per la fauna selvatica. Nel presente studio, l’obiettivo è stato quello di valutare lo sviluppo delle radici ectomicorriziche di Pinus oocarpa in seguito all’inoculazione con 3 funghi ectomicorrizici commestibili, ampiamente consumati in Messico. I pini inoculati hanno mostrato una crescita maggiore in altezza e diametro del fusto rispetto ai pini non inoculati e una differenza significativa nella valutazione delle radici ectomicorriziche. Inoltre, l’inoculazione con i funghi commestibili valutati ha determinato una maggiore sopravvivenza delle piante di Pinus oocarpa in condizioni di serra rispetto ai controlli.
