In den letzten Jahrzehnten hat sich in der Musikpädagogik die Auffassung durchgesetzt, dass jedes musikalische Material die Entwicklung von Lehrmethoden erfordert, die seiner intonatorischen Natur entsprechen. In der Musikpädagogik hat dies zum Aufkommen des stilbezogenen Solfeggios geführt. Gegenwärtig sind im Solfeggio-Unterricht zwei Hauptrichtungen klar definiert: der traditionelle Ansatz, bei dem es sich um einen einheitlichen Ansatz für die Auswahl und Entwicklung des Lehrmaterials handelt, der sich ausschließlich an den Zielen des Fachs orientiert und die stilistische Vielfalt der Musik außer Acht lässt, und der stilistische Ansatz, in dessen Rahmen je nach beherrschtem stilistischem Material mehrere Richtungen unterschieden werden können. Die vorgeschlagenen Artikel beziehen sich auf die Hauptvarianten des Solfeggio-Stils, nämlich Jazz- und Folk-Solfeggio. Das Hauptziel dieser Richtung des Solfeggio-Unterrichts ist die Entwicklung des Gehörs und der Intonationsfähigkeiten auf Pop-Jazz- und Folk-Material.
