John Reed
American journalist John 'Jack' Reed documents the 1914 Mexican Revolution in his on-the-ground reports. He provides a superbly accurate depiction of how the peasants and Indians of Mexico endured under a cruel regime. He writes of his experience with Pancho Villa in northern Mexico and the fight in the desert. Being a Gringo, he found it difficult because most Americans had just travelled to Mexico to despoil the country. Read Bruno Traven’s 'The White Rose' and other 'jungle series' works to learn about the mistreatment of Indian Mexicans. Since Jack London had just passed away in 1914, many would argue that Jack Reed took over from him when it came to reporting on the war.
