Feuchtgebietsökosysteme gehören zu den produktivsten Ökosystemen der Biosphäre und erhalten Oberflächenwassereinträge aus Bächen (Oberflächenabfluss), Niederschlag, Überlandabfluss und unterirdische Wassereinträge durch Oberflächeninfiltration. Feuchtgebiete sind anerkannte Ökosysteme, die eine große biologische Vielfalt beherbergen, die Millionen von Menschen ernähren und die durch menschliche Aktivitäten auf der ganzen Welt bedroht sind. Als Ökosysteme sind Feuchtgebiete sehr unbeständig und besonders anfällig für Umweltschwankungen. Obwohl die biologische Vielfalt von Feuchtgebieten einen bedeutenden Teil (z.B. 15-20%) der gesamten biologischen Vielfalt des indischen Subkontinents ausmacht, sind Studien über Feuchtgebietsökosysteme begrenzt. Der zunehmende Einfluss anthropogener Eingriffe in und um aquatische Systeme und ihre Einzugsgebiete haben in größerem Umfang zu einer Verschlechterung der Wasserqualität beigetragen, die zu einer beschleunigten Eutrophierung führt. In der vorliegenden Arbeit untersuchen wir die limnologischen Eigenschaften des Feuchtgebiets Barda Bandharan mit physikalisch-chemischen Eigenschaften des Wassers.
