O desenvolvimento de novos nanomateriais baseados em materiais híbridos é de grande interesse e impacto em diversas áreas da ciência devido ao grande número de aplicações que podem ter em função da sua composição. No presente livro, apresenta-se a conceção e síntese de nanocompósitos híbridos de sílica com propriedades luminescentes potenciadas pelo mecanismo de Transferência de Energia Ressonante por Fluorescência (FRET) e a sua aplicação à bio-marcação de cianobactérias. Em particular, o estudo destas bioestruturas é de grande interesse clínico e ambiental. Uma vez que estas possuem propriedades luminescentes fracas, foram estudados processos de transferência de energia entre nanoplataformas e cianobactérias, tais como mecanismos Bio-FRET. Desta forma, foram geradas propriedades luminescentes sintéticas e avaliadas por Fluorescência, Microscopia Laser de Fluorescência e Citometria de Fluxo com excitação Laser e deteção de Fluorescência.
