Eugene 'Gene' Hightower is a research associate and lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. He has taught Native American Psychology courses at University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University. His academic training took place at Harvard University, University of California, Berkeley, The Wright Institute, and University of California, San Francisco. A licensed psychologist, Gene is a past director of mental health services at the Native American Health Center. He is a member of the Society of Indian Psychologists.
