Сесилия Гриерсон родилась в Буэнос-Айресе в 1859 году. Ее детство прошло в Энтре-Риосе. В 1878 году она вошла в первую группу выпускников Нормальной школы Nº1 провинции Буэнос-Айрес. В 1882 году ей удалось поступить в Университет Буэнос-Айреса, который она окончила в 1889 году как доктор. В 1886 году она основала первую в Южной Америке школу медсестер.
