Este trabalho de investigação também examinará os pontos fortes e fracos institucionais da União Africana, o papel dos atores regionais e extra-regionais na gestão de conflitos em África e sugerirá formas de desenvolver ligações entre a União Africana (UA) e os mecanismos de segurança sub-regionais de África. Por fim, são apresentadas recomendações para políticas futuras que permitam enfrentar os desafios.
