Questo studio è stato condotto tenendo conto di due obiettivi generali. Il primo è quello di valutare il contributo delle istituzioni finanziarie in Svezia alla pianificazione finanziaria personale. Il secondo è scoprire se esiste la necessità di un servizio specializzato in questo campo. Per lo studio abbiamo triangolato dati qualitativi e quantitativi. Lo studio è stato condotto a Umeå, una città del nord della Svezia, con un campione relativamente piccolo. Ulteriori test possono essere condotti in condizioni simili per generalizzare i risultati all’intero Paese. Abbiamo formulato due ipotesi, basate sulla teoria del ciclo di vita e sulla teoria del portafoglio. Abbiamo riscontrato che il comportamento di accumulo patrimoniale degli individui in Svezia sembra essere universale. Abbiamo anche individuato che i servizi di consulenza delle istituzioni finanziarie in Svezia sono vincolati e che c’è un potenziale per questo settore di spostare la propria attenzione.
