La présente étude a été réalisée dans le cadre du projet Treatment of Produced Water : Caractérisation et nouvelles stratégies de traitement (2009-2014). La production de ressources pétrolières inclut une eau coproduite appelée eau de production. Cette eau contient des produits pétroliers et doit être traitée avant d’être rejetée en mer ou réinjectée dans le réservoir. L’objectif de cette étude est de traiter l’eau de production huileuse (OPW) en utilisant un polymère naturel, le chitosane, basé sur la floculation afin d’atteindre un débit de traitement maximal. Les polymères naturels (chitine et chitosane) ont été préparés pour adsorber les gouttelettes d’huile de l’eau produite dans le champ pétrolifère. La caractérisation physique et chimique de la chitine et du chitosane a ensuite été effectuée. Les résultats indiquent que le chitosane a la capacité d’adsorber plus d’huile que la chitine.
