Taking a cognitive approach, this book asks what poetry, and in particular Holocaust poetry, does to the reader - and to what extent the translation of this poetry can have the same effects. It is informed by current theoretical discussion and features many practical examples.Holocaust poetry differs from other genres of writing about the Holocaust in that it is not so much concerned to document facts as to document feelings and the sense of an experience. It shares the potential of all poetry to have profound effects on the thoughts and feelings of the reader. This book examines how the openness to engagement that Holocaust poetry can engender, achieved through stylistic means, needs to be preserved in translation if the translated poem is to function as a Holocaust poem in any meaningful sense. This is especially true when historical and cultural distance intervenes. The first book of its kind and by a world-renowned scholar and translator, this is required reading.

The National Socialist concentration camp of Stutthof, not far from Danzig (West Prussia), has never been the subject of scientific study by western historians. In Poland there exists quite an extensive body of literature on the subject, which must, however, be treated with caution, because it is heavily influenced by Soviet-Communist and Polish-nationalistic ideology. Accordin...

Holocaust High Priest weaves together five compelling and interrelated narratives. The book’s main concern is to present the world’s first unauthorized biography of Elie Wiesel. It shines the light of truth on the mythomaniac who, in the 1970s, transformed the word 'Holocaust' and made it the brand name of the world’s greatest hoax: the unfounded claim by an extremist segment o...
  • The 'Extermination Camps' of 'Aktion Reinhardt' - Part 1
Carlo Mattogno / Thomas Kues / Jürgen Graf
Ever since the authors of the present study started publishing, together or separately, thorough studies about the most prominent German camps of the WWII era which are generally referred to as extermination camps, orthodox historians have made it a point to intentionally ignore these studies which they seem unable to refute. This eerie silence ended only in late 2011 when seve...
  • Debunking the Bunkers of Auschwitz
    Carlo Mattogno
The so-called 'Bunkers' at Auschwitz-Birkenau, two former farmhouses just outside the camp’s perimeter, are claimed to have been the first homicidal gas chambers at Auschwitz specifically converted for this purpose in early 1942. In this examination of a critical component of the Auschwitz extermination legend, the indefatigable Carlo Mattogno has combed tens of thousands of do...

'Das Institut für Zeitgeschichte hat den Leuchter-Bericht widerlegt, der die Existenz der Gaskammern von Auschwitz leugnet' – das ist eine Lüge. 'Der Historiker Jean-Claude Pressac und der Sozialoberrat Werner Wegner haben die technischen Argumente der Revisionisten widerlegt' – das stimmt nicht, denn weder Pressac noch Wegner argumentierten je technisch. 'Der französische ...
