YKL-40: Ein Protein aus der Chitinase-Familie, das bekanntermaßen mit Entzündungen in Verbindung steht. Die Rolle von Einzelnukleotidpolymorphismen im CHI3L1-Gen bei der Asthmaanfälligkeit und den YKL-40-Spiegeln wurde bei verschiedenen ethnischen Gruppen umfassend untersucht, wobei widersprüchliche Ergebnisse hinsichtlich des Anfälligkeitsallels erzielt wurden. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden die Oberflächenplasmonresonanztechnologie und auf der Polymerasekettenreaktion basierende Methoden zur Abschätzung der Proteinspiegel und zur Genotypisierung verwendet. Unsere Ergebnisse deuten stark auf einen Zusammenhang zwischen YKL-40-Spiegeln und Asthmageschwere sowie auf einen möglichen Zusammenhang zwischen dem CG-Genotyp im Promotorbereich rs4950928 des CHI3L1-Gens und erhöhten YKL-40-Spiegeln und Asthma-Anfälligkeit hin.
