This book: Venezuela. Some Current Legal Issues 2014, is the recollection of the National Reports submitted by Venezuelan law professors (A. R. Brewer-Carías, H. Rondón de Sansó, E. Hernández-Bretón; C. Madrid Martínez, A.I, Rondon García; C. Nikken, S. Abache Carvajal) to the XIX International Congress of Comparative Law, held in Vienna on 20-26 July 2014. This edition has been coordinated by professors Allan R. Brewer-Carías and Eugenio Hernández Breton, of the National Academy of Political and Social Sciences that is the Venezuelan National Section of the International Academy. Venezuelan law professors have participated in the works of the International Academy since the VII International Congress of Comparative Law held in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1966; and since then, the National Reports have been published in books, like: Ponencias Venezolanas al VII Congreso Internacional de Derecho Comparado (Uppsala, agosto 1966), Instituto de Derecho Privado, Facultad de Derecho, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas 1966; Ponencias Venezolanas al X Congreso Internacional de Derecho Comparado (Budapest, Hungría, 23/28 agosto de 1978), Facultad de Ciencias Jurídicas y Políticas, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas 1978; El Derecho Venezolano en 1982, Ponencias al XI Congreso Internacional de Derecho Comparado, Facultad de Ciencias Jurídicas y Políticas, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas 1982; El Derecho Venezolano a finales del Siglo XX, Ponencias Venezolanas XV Congreso Internacional de Derecho Comparado, Bristol, julio-agosto 1998, Biblioteca de la Academia de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales, Caracas 1998. In other occasions they have been published in Journals like in the Revista de la Facultad de Ciencias Jurídicas y Políticas, Nº 66 (Ponencias Venezolanas al XII Congreso Internacional de Derecho Comparado), Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas 1987; and in the Boletín de la Academia de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales, Ponencias venezolanas para el XVI Congreso Internacional de Derecho Comparado, (Brisbane-Australia), Nº 139, Año LXVIV, Enero-Junio 2002, Caracas 2002.This is the first time in which the Venezuelan National Reports are published in English and French, which are the official languages of the Academy and of the Congresses.
