He opened his eyes to . . . darkness! For a split second, he thought he was blind but soon realised that his eyes were covered. As he reached to remove the obstruction, a female voice instructed him to stop.‘Glad to have you back with us, Sir, but the bandages need to stay on until the doctor visits.'‘Sorry, but where am I?' asked the patient. The mention of a doctor and bandages suggested that he must be in a hospital. But where?‘Let me introduce myself,' the female continued. ‘I am Nurse Lytle, Corporal Jennifer Lytle, and you are in the military hospital in Shropshire barracks.'‘Why a military hospital?' asked the patient.‘Because you are a soldier, Lieutenant,' the nurse replied, ‘and you have been with us for quite a while, ever since your transfer from the military hospital in Afghanistan.'‘Forgive me, but I can't recall Afghanistan or who I am,' the Lieutenant responded. ‘Oh, here comes the doctor,' said Nurse Lytle. ‘He will explain everything.'
