This book chronicles the fascinating lives and careers of a much loved and highly respected Cookshire (Quebec) couple who passed away 50 years ago. Descendants of English and Scottish emigrants who were pioneers in the white settlement of Compton County, John French and Dorothy MacLeod are remembered for their love of family, their contributions to the community and their generosity to all. Although they were childless, their love extended to their large family and to their more than a dozen godchildren, of whom I was one.A computer consultant by profession, Winston Fraser is a widely published photographer and writer. He wasthe major supplier of photographs for National Geographic’s Canada Travel Guide.
