Cette étude a pour but d’examiner la mise en œuvre de la stratégie de cartographie mentale pour enseigner l’écriture dans la classe de préparation à l’IELTS. En particulier, quatre objectifs ont guidé la conduite de cette étude : (1) décrire la mise en œuvre de la stratégie de cartographie mentale, (2) étudier les réponses des étudiants, (3) examiner les problèmes et (4) expliquer les solutions de la mise en œuvre de la stratégie de cartographie mentale dans la classe d’écriture de l’IELTS. Il s’agit d’une étude qualitative descriptive portant sur 20 étudiants des classes de préparation à l’IELTS. Ces étudiants ont été répartis en 6 classes en fonction de leur niveau après avoir passé le test de placement de l’IELTS. Trois professeurs ont enseigné dans deux classes chacun. Les données ont été collectées à l’aide d’observations en classe, de questionnaires destinés aux étudiants, d’entretiens avec les enseignants et d’analyses de documents. Elles ont été analysées selon une méthode qualitative descriptive, bien qu’il y ait eu une simple analyse quantitative du questionnaire des étudiants. En conclusion, cette étude a révélé quatre résultats concernant les objectifs particuliers de la mise en œuvre de la stratégie de cartographie mentale dans les classes de préparation à l’écriture de l’IELTS.
